Finishing Touches
As the final trees were planted and the last materials were installed, the project entered its final phase: completing the details that would transform an active construction site into a finished addition to Randolph's downtown streetscape.
Throughout the demolition and excavation process, great care was taken to protect the surrounding infrastructure. By carefully planning each concrete cut and exercising patience during excavation, our crews were able to minimize impacts to the adjacent sidewalks. Maintaining the integrity of the existing concrete was a priority from the beginning, and the finished sites reflect that attention to detail.
Once construction activities were complete, a thorough cleanup of each location was performed. Excess materials were removed from sidewalks and surrounding areas, and the work sites were carefully cleaned to ensure the downtown area was left neat, safe, and welcoming. Sidewalks were rinsed and cleaned, construction debris was removed, and each planting site received the final attention needed to prepare it for public use.
With the cleanup complete, the finished appearance of the sites could finally be appreciated. The combination of carefully installed cobblestone edging and pea stone surfacing creates a clean, attractive finish that complements Randolph's historic downtown character. The natural stone materials help frame each tree while creating a polished and inviting appearance that blends seamlessly into the surrounding streetscape.
While construction may now be complete, the success of these trees will depend on continued care during the years ahead. Fortunately, this project has benefited from strong community support from the very beginning. With the assistance of the Town of Randolph, local business owners, and Deputy Tree Warden Jeffrey Thayer, plans are in place to ensure these trees continue to receive the watering and attention necessary to establish healthy root systems and thrive in their new environment.
For our team, one of the most rewarding moments was stepping back and seeing the finished project as a whole. What began as a series of planning meetings, marked sidewalks, and construction zones has become a collection of beautiful new tree planting sites that enhance the appearance of downtown Randolph and create space for future growth.
Most importantly, these improvements belong to the community. We hope residents, visitors, and local business owners take pride in these new additions to downtown and enjoy watching them grow in the years ahead. As the trees mature, they will provide shade, character, environmental benefits, and a stronger connection to Vermont's natural landscape—leaving a lasting impact far beyond the completion of the project itself.
